Robredo Says EDSA Revolt Is A Reminder Of Filipinos’ Readiness To Stand up Against Dictatorship

EDSA – Vice President Leni Robredo said the EDSA anniversary should remind Filipinos to stand up for what is right.

Vice President Leni Robredo is one of the most vocal critics of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. She previously described the chief executive’s “war on drugs” as a “failure.”

Today is the 34th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution also known as the “Yellow Revolution.” In a report, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said they have deployed over 2000 police officers for the anniversary.

VP Leni Robredo issued a statement to commemorate the EDSA revolt. The 54-year-old politician said she was among the 2 million protesters who gathered at Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) 34-years ago to call for President Ferdinand Marcos resignation

Leni Robredo said the event is a reminder that Filipinos are ready to fight back against dictatorship. She urged her countrymen to protect and preserve the memory of the revolt.

Leni Robredo stated that the EDSA anniversary was never a call for a perfect leader but a push for him to prioritize the welfare of the Filipinos instead of “killing” them. Philippine Star shared her statement on Twitter.
