President Duterte Fires VP Leni Robredo as Co-Chair of ICAD

President Duterte Fires VP Leni Robredo From Anti-Drug Body

President Duterte has already fired Vice President Leni Robredo as the co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

On Sunday (November 25, 2019), the Malacañang Palace confirmed that VP Robredo has been removed from her post on anti-drug body weeks after Duterte offered the position to her.  Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea confirmed the announcement via text message.

Palace Spokesman Salvador Panelo explained that the administration removed Robredo as the co-chair of ICAD in response to the suggestion of Senator Francis Pangilinan to fire the Vice President from the drug war.

This is also in response to the taunt and dare of VP Robredo for the President to just tell her that he wants her out,” Panelo said.

Panelo also explained that the Duterte administration removed the vice president from her post for wasting an opportunity and used the position as a platform to attack the current administration.

Previously, Duterte also said that he does not trust Robredo, who is a staunch critic of the current administration of how it conducts the anti-illegal drug campaign.
