Leni Robredo Say She’s Not Part of Oust Rodrigo Duterte Calls
LENI ROBREDO – Vice president Leni Robredo said she is not part of any movement calling for President Rodrigo Duterte’s ouster.
Vice President Leni Robredo has been a vocal critic of Duterte’s admin. She described his “war on drugs” as a “failure.” The president’s violent war on illegal drugs has claimed the lives of numerous drug suspects.
On Thursday, Robredo clarified that she’s not part of the protest organized by citizens calling for Duterte’s resignation. Based on a report from GMA News, a mass protest is set this coming February 22.
Leni Robredo said she believed that everyone has the right of free speech but accusing the country’s leader of alleged misdeeds should be done accordingly. The Constitutional court decides whether he is guilty or not.
“Sagrado ang karapatan ng mamamayang magtipon at ipahayag ang kanilang mga saloobin. Gayunpaman, nais ko ring bigyang-diin: Dapat idaan ang pagpapahayag ng mga hinaing at pagpapanagot sa ating mga pinuno sa mga prosesong alinsunod sa Saligang Batas. Sa gayong paraan, makikiambag tayo sa pagpapalakas ng ating mga institusyon…”
“Hayagan ko pong sinasabi: hindi ako bahagi ng anumang panawagang bumaba sa puwesto si Pangulong Duterte. Ang panawagan ko lang, sana gawin nating lahat ang trabaho natin bilang mga lingkod-bayan,” she added.
According to the report, Leni Robredo said she hoped that there would be no violence or ouster calls during the supposed protest.
“Sa harap ng lahat ng ito, tiwala akong magiging mapayapa ang pagtitipon. Tiwala rin akong walang magiging lugar sa ating hanay ang mga panawagang hindi alinsunod sa ating Saligang Batas at ang anumang karahasan,” said Robredo.
In a previous article, the Department of Justice has completed the investigation on the sedition case filed against the vice president and 35 others.
