NCRPO: Over 2 Thousand Cops Will Be Deployed For EDSA Anniversary

NCRPO – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said that more than 2,000 police will be deployed to secure the 34th anniversary of the EDSA Revolution.

According to GMA, Police Major General Debold Sinas said that 251 policemen who were from the Joint Task Force – National Capital Region will be among the 2,500 cops.

“We have a total of 2,500 security force that will be deployed in the whole activity, kasama na po ‘yung JTF – NCR niyan who will augment 251 personnel,”

Sinas added that these cops will secure the following areas:

  • National Housing Authority
  • Philippine Coconut Authority
  • ABS-CBN Compound
  • Welcome Rotonda

“‘Yung mga lugar na ‘yun, ‘yun ‘yung last year saan nagma-martsa, saan galing. Ang idea namin, might as well provide security doon sa kanila. But we will not stop them from marching, i-monitor lang…”

Sinas said that they will also deploy a total of 648 traffic personnel from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority to aid in traffic situation. The Bureau of Fire Protection will also provide firetrucks.

As per the report, the officer said on 4 AM February 25 (Tuesday), that all districts of the NCRPO will be on red alert in order to secure peace and order during the 34th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

He added that protesters who plan to hold protest actions should secure a permit from authorities.

Sinas said that police are in coordination with groups who aim to hold activities or protest actions during the anniversary of the historic uprising.
