RITM Releases Swab Test Results of 8 Suspected Coronavirus Patients in Negros Oriental

SUSPECTED CORONAVIRUS PATIENTS IN NEGROS – The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) released the results of the swab test of 8 suspected nCoV cases in Negros Oriental.

One of the countries with multiple confirmed cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus in Philippines. There are three (3) confirmed cases and all patients are Chinese.

The first and the second confirmed cases of nCoV in the country are a couple from Wuhan City. They flew from Hong Kong to the Philippines and visited Cebu and Dumaguete before their confinement.

On January 25, just four (4) days after the Chinese couple arrived, they were admitted at San Lazaro Hospital in Makati. The 38-year-old woman was the first to test positive for nCoV.

A few days after, her companion passed away. The 44-year-old man also tested positive for nCoV making the first death case outside the China, the epicenter of the virus.

The third confirmed case of nCoV in the country is a 60-year-old Chinese. The patient has already flew back to China as, initially, there were conflicting results. The authorities are tracing all the people these patients had a contact with.

Suspected Coronavirus Patients in Negros Oriental

In Negros Oriental, there are several patients under monitoring for suspected nCoV infection. Their swab tests were sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for checking.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, the RITM has already released the results of 8 suspected coronavirus patients in Negros Oriental. They all tested negative.

Reportedly, they are still not allowed to leave the confinement facility. The results of their confirmatory test are still awaited.
