Kapamilya Actress Considered For Jennylyn Mercado’s Role In GMA’s PH Remake of ‘Descendants Of The Sun’?
KAPAMILYA – There was a rumor that a Kapamilya actress was considered for Jennylyn Mercado’s role in GMA-7’s Filipino adaptation of ‘Descendants of the Sun.’
GMA-7 actress Jennylyn Mercado is no doubt one of the most beautiful actresses in the Philippine entertainment industry today. She has done several tv-series and films such as “Just the 3 of US,” “The Prenup,” and “Love You Two” among others.
In October last year, the prominent actress took to social media to announce that she will be portraying the role of Doctor Maxine Dela Cruz of the Pinoy adaptation of the hit South Korean drama series ‘Descendants of the Sun.’ She will be Dingdong Dantes’ leading lady on the most-awaited show.
Last December, the first trailer of the Filipino remake of ‘Descendants of the Sun’ was released. The teaser showed the iconic scenes of the Korean version including the unforgettable shoelace scene of the lead actors.
The theme song of the newest Kapuso teleserye is titled “You Are My Everything” performed by Julie Ann San Jose.
Based on a report from PEP, it was rumored on social media that a Kapamilya actress was considered to play Jennylyn Mercado’s role in ‘Descendants of the Sun.’ Among the name that was mentioned was Erich Gonzalez’.
During the ‘All-New Kapuso Month Primetime’ event on Wednesday, February 5 at Shang Complex, the executive producer of the teleserye, Winnie Hollis-Reyes clarified the rumor. She said there was no ABS-CBN actress who was considered to play Dr. Maxine Dela Cruz in the GMA-7 remake.
“Parang wala naman, as far as I am concerned, the very first time na sinabi sa akin na ito ang iha-handle ko, walang nabanggit na kahit anong ganoong bagay,” she said.
According to the report, the producer pointed out that they considered other GMA-7 actresses to be Dingdong Dantes’ leading lady. She believed that the role was really meant only for Jennylyn Mercado.
