Tarlac Not Consulted By DOH Regarding The Use Of New Clark As Quarantine Zone

TARLAC NOT CONSULTED – The local government of Tarlac said they were not consulted by the Department Of Health regarding the use of New Clark as a quarantine zone.

Earlier, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III announce the facility meant for athletes would be utilized as a quarantine zone for Filipinos returning from Hubei, China.

There, the outbreak of the Wuhan coronavirus had caused the death of over 618 individuals. Along with this, more than 841 patients were under critical condition.

According to a report from Philstar, Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte to consider another facility to be used as a quarantine zone.

In a statement, the Catacutan mayor said:

While it is true that I, as a Filipino, am in favor of the repatriation of OFWs from the province of Hubei, China, I feel perturbed by the fact that Department of Health did not at all, in any way, involve the Capas local government unit in its last-minute decision for New Clark City Capas to be used as quarantine zone for these Persons under Monitoring,

Recently, the Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) repatriation team had landed in Wuhan to bring home Filipinos back home. Upon arrival in the Philippines, the 45 individuals to be repatriated would undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine.

Currently, the Wuhan coronavirus has not shown signs of slowing down. However, China had recently approved a drug that has the potential to successfully fight against the virus outbreak.

This drug is set to be used to 761 infected patients of 2019 nCoV in Wuhan China its clinical trial. Reportedly, this medicine is also good for treating SARS and MERS Coronavirus as well as the Ebola infections.
