Mariel Padilla went viral with this past statement about Robin Padilla
An old video of celebrity vlogger Mariel Padilla defending her husband, Senator Robin Padilla, against critics of his role as a lawmaker has resurfaced.
This follows the barrage of criticism the senator is currently facing from various social media platforms
The video in question is Mariel’s 2022 vlog, in which she pushed back against those claiming her husband was not qualified to be a senator.
Mariel Padilla pointed out that her husband is a college graduate and that he even passed a law even before he became a senator, based on the article in Bandera.
“Si Robin nakatapos ’yan ng college. Meron siyang degree sa criminology. Next, si Robin, nung nasa bilibid nakapagpasa na ng batas. Without even being a senator,” she said.
The celebrity vlogger also pointed out that the “trust” from the Philippine Army proved Sen. Robin’s worth as a public officila.
“Sa tingin niyo ba ang Philippine Army bibigyan siya ng ganun kalaking role… responsibility sa Philippine Army na siya ang in charge sa communications at strategic planning kung sa tingin niyo hindi siya qualified?” Mariel said.
Then, she stressed this to those who do not believe her husband’s capacity. “So, sa mga nagsasabing hindi siya qualified, I beg to disagree. He is more than qualified,” Mariel Padilla said.
When this resurfaced, the celebrity vlogger received negative reactions from the online community, and one of those who commented against what she said was Atty. Jesus Falcis.
“[X] Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla: “Kahit nasa Bilibid si Robin nuon eh nakapasa siya ng batas.” [✓] Fact Check: FALSE. Robin Padilla did not pass a law while in prison. Hindi pa siya Senador nuon,” the lawyer wrote in his social media post.
Meanwhile, last month, Mariel Padilla also caught the attention of the online community because of her comment on director Darryl Yap’s post about the possibility of Sen. Robin Padilla becoming the next Vice President.
