DTI Seeks Five Million Masks But Can’t Find Supplier
DTI – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) seeks for five million masks, yet they still can’t find a supplier willing to deploy.
According to Inquirer, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said that he ordered the Philippine International Trading Corp. (PITC), an agency attached to the Trade department, to send five million masks in order to augment the local supply, especially the needs of the Department of Health and other health workers.
However, the main issue is that the PITC is having a hard time looking for a nation that is willing to supply the face masks of that quantity.
As per the report, Lopez added that as of the moment, the nations asked for the masks were India, Pakistan, the United States, and the European Union but it failed.
As of the moment, the number of patients that are observed for possible Novel coronavirus (nCoV) sharply increased from 36 to 80.
Among those were eight who were believed to have close contact with the Chinese woman, who was the first case of the said virus in the Philippines.
The following numbers of patients from different areas are as follows:
- Metro Manila – 27
- Central Luzon – 15
- Central Visayas – 11
- Northern Mindanao – 5
- Davao – 5
- Mimaropa – 4
- Cagayan Valley – 1
- Ilocos – 1
- Eastern Visayas – 1
