Duterte Appoints Cousin Of His Partner Honeylet To New Gov’t Post

DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte appointed the cousin of his partner Honeylet Avanceña to a new government position.

Politician Rodrigo Roa Duterte also known as “Digong” is the 16th president of the Philippines. He is also the first Mindanaoan to hold the office. He worked as a lawyer in Davao City before he became a vice mayor.

The 74-year-old chief executive is currently living with his common wife Honeylet Avanceña. They have one daughter named Kitty Duterte. He has three children with his first wife Elizabeth Zimmerman: Paolo Duterte, Sara Duterte, and Sebastian Duterte.

On Tuesday, Malacañang Palace released the list of new presidential appointees. Based on a report from ABS-CBN, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte appointed the cousin of his common wife to another government post. Melissa Avanceña Aradanas is now the assistant secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.

According to the report, Melissa Avanceña Arandanas was one of the five (5) members of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor. The agency was led by Chairman Terry Ridon. The Davaoeño politician fired Ridon in 2017 for going on various trips abroad.

Arandanas was later reappointed by the president to another government post, as the deputy secretary-general of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.

 In a previous article, the president appointed Vice President Leni Robredo as anti-illegal drugs czar. Weeks after he appointed the politician, he fired her because he could not trust her with the classified information.

“Need-to-know lang siya… If she asks something then you give her the half of it. The other half, if it’s a classified information, there is no need for her to know,” he said.
