VP Leni Robredo Finally Accepts Duterte’s Drug War Lead Offer
Vice President Leni Robredo has already accepted the offer of President Duterte for her to be the co-chairperson of the anti-drug campaign.
Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte invited Vice President Leni Robredo to play a lead role for the anti-drug campaign. Robredo has been appointed as co-chairperson of the Interagency Committee on Anti-illegal Drugs.
The vice president’s camp was mum on whether she would accept the post or not. A member of the Liberal Party even said that Robredo would refuse to accept the president’s offer.
On Wednesday (November 6, 2019), Robredo has finally accepted the post to be the co-chairperson of the drug war. The lady politician clarified that she only sought for a reassessment and never intended to stop the program.
The 54-year-old politician agreed to share the post with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Aaron Aquino a day after the Malacañang Palace issued the memorandum appointing her to the position.
It took some time for Robredo to give an answer to Duterte’s 6-month drug war lead challenge doubting the offer of the president.
