However, Candian Chief Public health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam said that there were no current confirmed cases of the Wuhan virus in Canada.

According to an article from CNN, three major airports in Canada have heightened their screening processes. International travellers arriving in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver International Airport are asked to comply with the following:

  • Upon arrival, International travelers must inform a border officer if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.
  • Additional screening questions in electronic kiosks.

As per the article, Tam wanted to emphasize that even though entry screening processes are involved, it is not a guarantee against the possible contraction of the virus in a foreign country.

It is important to stress that entry screening alone is not a guaranteed against a possible importation of this new virus

She also added that there is no specific vaccine against the new novel coronavirus which began in Wuhan, China.

Countries like the United States have also heightened their security screening process for the virus. This was more emphasized by its first confirmed case of the virus.

Scientists are still figuring out where the virus started. But, scientists believe that the virus was likely to have been carried by an animal sold in the Wuhan Food Market.

In lieu of this, recent footage showing residents from Wuhan eating “bat soup” went viral. According to some scientists, this may have been the cause of the outbreak as bats could host the virus.
