INIHIAW – Aside from smoking cigarettes and other cancer-causing factors, grilled foods or “inihaw” can also cause cancer, experts say.
According to KAMI, cigarettes are one of the recognized legal addiction in the country. This is one of the main causes of having lung cancer that eventually became the reason for the early deaths of Filipinos who excessively smokes daily.
However, another cause that Filipinos can get cancer are grilled foods or locally known as “inihaw”.
Grilled foods such as barbecue, isaw, atay (liver), and the like are often seen in the streets. These are some of the all-time favorite foods of many Filipinos.
What we don’t know is that these street foods can also bring serious illnesses such as lung cancer.
According to the Philippine Cancer Society, the grilling of meat produces carcinogens that causes a chemical reaction that it can develop cancer to the body.
This is why some Filipinos wonder why they received cancer despite never smoked in their lives.
Based on the report, despite the fact that smoking cigarettes is by far the number one cause of lung cancer, we cannot deny that street foods can slowly be harmful.
Hence, we are urged to reduce the consumption of street foods in order to prevent its harmful effects.
