Maritoni Fernandez Receive Dengvaxia Shot in Thailand
MARITONI FERNANDEZ – Actress Maritoni Fernandez went to Bangkok, Thailand to receive the anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia.
The Dengvaxia vaccine was manufactured by the French pharmaceutical group Sanofi Pasteur. The manufacturer found out that their vaccine may trigger more severe symptoms if its injected to people who never contracted before.
Department of Health (DOH) suspended the vaccination program after the death of hundreds of children who received Dengvaxia shots. In a previous article, President Rodrigo Duterte said he is open to the use of the vaccine again after the DOH declared a dengue epidemic in July. “I am open to the use of Dengvaxia again. Maraming patay na… It’s an epidemic,” he said.
Rodrigo Duterte’s youngest daughter Kitty Duterte contracted dengue earlier this month despite having been inoculated with the anti-dengue vaccine. The 74-year-old politician had to hurry home to be with his daughter after learning about the news.
“I have to go see Kitty. She has dengue. But she is already on the safe level,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Filipina actress Maritoni Fernandez flew to Bangkok, Thailand to receive the Dengvaxia vaccine shots. She uploaded a photo of the dengvaxia vaccine on her Instagram account.
In the caption of the post, she wrote: “Finally got my first of three dengue shots but had to come to Bangkok for it. Not complaining. Good excuse to show eat and meet up with dear old school friends from England. Thank you Lord! I am so blessed.”
Maritoni Fernandez replied to a netizen who asked if the anti-dengue vaccine was safe. She replied Dengvaxia is only safe for people who never had the disease in the past.
