PAGASA – ITCZ Affects Mindanao, Eastern Visayas (October 16)

PAGASA – Weather bureau PAGASA recently said that the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will affect Mindanao and Eastern Visayas.

The bureau further added that the low pressure area (LPA), which was recently spotted on Tuesday (October 15), was last seen at about 1,335 kilometers east of the town of Baler, Aurora,

According to GMA, the northeasterly surface windflow will still prevail over Luzon, especially the following areas, whcih will face cloudy skies with light rainfall:

  • Batanes
  • Babuyan Group of Islands

On the other hand, the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains to Mindanao and Eastern Visayas. The bureau further warned the public of flash floods and landslides which will occur during severe thunderstorms.

Based on the report, Metro Manila, as well as the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain due to localized thunderstorms.

As for the wind speed forecast, Luzon and Visayas will have moderate to strong winds moving north eastward. Their coastal waters will range from moderate to rough.

On the other hand, Mindonao will have light to moderate winds moving north east while its coastal waters will range from slight to moderate.
