Senior Citizen Lost Her Life After Being Hit by Jeep in Manila
A senior citizen lost her life after being struck by a passenger jeepney along President Quirino Avenue near Plaza Dilao in Pandacan, Manila.
According to the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit, the accident happened at around 10:00 a.m on July 18, 2026, while the elderly woman was crossing the northbound lane of President Quirino Avenue.
Authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the area and found that the front portion of the jeepney hit the woman as she was making her way across the innermost lane of the road.
Traffic enforcers assigned near the area quickly responded to the scene and provided assistance. The victim suffered multiple injuries and was immediately brought by an MMDA ambulance to Ospital ng Maynila.
Due to the seriousness of her condition, she was later transferred to the Philippine General Hospital for further treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the woman was declared dead on arrival at around 11:27 a.m.
Police investigators said the victim has not yet been identified. Based on their initial findings, she is believed to be between 65 and 70 years old. Authorities also noted that she may have been living on the streets, making the identification process more challenging.
The 58-year-old jeepney driver voluntarily went to authorities following the incident and was turned over for investigation. He is now facing a possible case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. The driver chose not to give any public statement regarding the accident.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine exactly how it happened.
Meanwhile, the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit is asking for the public’s help in identifying the victim. She was reportedly wearing a floral blouse and denim pants at the time of the incident.
