In line with Elderly Filipino Week, the special two day promo is available for all senior citizens and PWDs. All they need to do is present any government-issued IDs at the counters.

However, proxies or letters with authorization upon presenting the IDs will not be honored. That means that you can’t use your grandparents senior citizen cards to get free movies.

According to a report by ABS-CBN, the free movie screenings will run from 11 a.m until 5 p.m. Cinemas 2 and 4 would be the venues for the free screenings.

Adding to this, Senior Citizens and PWDs also get to watch several movies between the 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. screening period. But, they need to finish the movies before being able to claim their next free ticket.

Regarding seat availability, accommodations for the screening are subject to a first-come-first-serve basis. Companions of the elderly and pwds will be charged regular prices for their tickets.

Based on a report by Inquirer, there are also free screening available in 30 branches of SM Cinemas. This is per request of senior citizen and pwd advocate Romy Macalintal.

“Making the joy of watching movies inclusive has always been a thrust for SM Cinema.”, SM stated. They also added that they took inspiration in how Filipino families bond over movies.

The elderly week is pursuant to Proclamation No. 470 to promote the well being of the elderly Filipinos. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, there are over 3.4 million Filipinos aged 60 and above.
