Zamboanga Suspends Classes, Gets Flooded Due To Heavy Rainfall

ZAMBOANGA – The City of Zamboanga recently experienced floods due to heavy rain then eventually suspended classes.

According to ABS-CBN, about 4 houses were swept away by the flood that engulfed streets in the city due to rains from the southwest monsoon or habagat which was enhanced by MArilyn.

The flooding waters which came from swollen rivers also swept away some structures in Brgy. Sta. Maria in Tumaga.

As per the report, Local government units of the city, as well as the ones in Isabela, were prompted to suspend classes in all levels on Septembber 13.

The Philippine Coast Guard also halted boat trips between the city and the province of Basilan.

Marilyn recently slowed down to 10 kilometers per hour form its 4AM’s 20 kilometers per hour.

It is also packed with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour, according to PAGASA.

The peninsula, as well as west Visayas, BARMM, and Palawan, were reported to face frequent light to moderate with instances of heavy rains.

While Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao, Soccksargen, and the rest of Mimaropa and Visayas will face occasional light to moderate rainfall with chances of heavy rain within thunderstorms.
