Class Suspensions Declared In These Areas on Friday (August 30)

WALANG PASOK – The local government unit of San Juan City has declared class suspensions in observance of 123rd anniversary of ‘Battle of Pinaglabanan’.

On Friday (August 30, 2019), the classes in San Juan City, Manila have been suspended by the in both public and private schools as well as the work in government offices. The announcement has been posted on the Facebook page “San Juan City Public Information Office”.

San Juan City government made the announcement in accordance to Proclamation No. 164 declaring August 30 as special holiday. San Juaneños will commemorate the 123rd ‘Battle of San Juan del Monte’.

Class Suspensions

The ‘Battle of Pinaglabanan’ happened on August 30, 1896 considering the first real battle of the Philippine Revolution seeking our independence from Spain. The first battle cry of the Katipunan, which coincides with the pealing of the church bell a day before the battle.

Andres Bonifacio together with 800 Katipuneros met  Katipunero Felix Sanchez, chairman of the Sapa chapter, at Hagdang Bato  in San Felipe before launching the surprise attack that captured the ‘Polvorin’.
