Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Pledges $5 Million For Amazon Rainforest

LEONARDO DICAPRIO – Hollywood actor, philanthropist, and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio donated $5 million to save the burning Amazon rainforest.

The rainforest in Amazon has been burning for weeks now. The President in Brazil Jail Bolsonaro claimed that the non-governmental organizations are the one who set the forest on fire.

Bolsonaro said the NGOs were punishing him after he slashed their funding. In a previous article, the Brazilian president said he would deploy an army to combat the massive fire in the rainforest.

Jain Bosonaro reacted after lots of people have reacted on the destruction in the forest. The Amazon forest was the Earth’s bulwark against climate change. The resident near the forest was posting pictures of their dark sky on their social media account.

In a previous article, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) satellite captured an image of the smoke and fire from the burning forest. The disturbing photos celebrities to react.

Based on a report from BBC, the new environmental organization of the Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio pledged to 5 million dollars to save the rainforest. The philantropist is a supporter of several organizations that aims to protect the planet.

According to the report, Leonardo DiCaprio’s organization, Earth Alliance said they will be donating money to indigenous communities and local groups to protect the forest.

“The destruction of the Amazon rainforest is rapidly releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, destroying an ecosystem that absorbs millions of tonnes of carbon emissions every year and is one of the planet’s best defences against the climate crisis.”

Based on the report, Leonadro Di Caprio shared several photos of the destroyed forest in his Instagram account. He encouraging the public to support and get involved in the crisis.

The organizations that are receiving cash are Coordination of the Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB), Instituto Associacao Floresta Protegida, Instituto Socioambiental (ISA), Instituto Kabu, and Instituto Raoni.
