According to the report, the residents in the largest part of Brazil, Amazonas, declared a state of emergency earlier this month. The intense smoke was even detected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The space agency used the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the company’s Aqua satellite to capture the image.

Last week, America’s space agency released satellite images on the smoke and patches of fires in Brazil. The fire on the said forest usually releases 500-600 metric tons of carbon dioxide. But this year, it only released 200 metric tons. It’s below average compared to the last 15 years.

Based on the report, the movement of the smoke from the wide fire was tracked by the satellite imagery. The image below shows fires burning near the states of Mato Grosso, Rondonia, and Amazonas.
