Pepe Herrera Recalls Being Intimidated by Jerald Napoles

How Jerald Napoles and Pepe Herrera Became Lifelong Friends

PEPE HERRERA – The actor-singer revealed that he was initially intimidated by Jerald Napoles when they first worked together in the 2014 PETA musical Rak of Aegis.

Instead of avoiding Jerald, Pepe chose to get closer to him and learn from his experience in theater. Their working relationship eventually developed into a close friendship that has lasted for years.

Jerald said Rak of Aegis played an important role in their friendship. At the time, he had more theater experience than Pepe, so he helped him with his character and performance. In return, Pepe, who has a background in music, helped Jerald improve his singing and pay attention to musical details. Their collaboration was built on their willingness to learn from and support each other.

Pepe also recalled how Jerald supported him during a difficult time in his personal life. When Pepe went through a breakup with his former girlfriend, Jerald stayed with him and listened to him as they talked for hours at a bar in Malate, Manila. Their conversation reportedly lasted until early morning.

Because Pepe is a private person, he rarely shares personal matters with others. Jerald became one of the few people he trusted enough to open up to, further strengthening their friendship.

Jerald said their bond is special because both of them started in theater before moving into mainstream showbiz. Although they have worked with many people throughout their careers, they have managed to remain close while continuing to work together on different projects.

The actors have appeared in several productions together, allowing their professional partnership to grow alongside their personal friendship. Jerald considers their long-lasting relationship a blessing and hopes they will remain friends for life.

Their friendship is currently gaining attention as they star together in the road-trip movie Ang Pinakamasarap na Pares sa Balat ng Lupa. The film is scheduled to be released in Philippine cinemas on August 26, 2026.
