Netizen Slams Anne Curtis’ Post About Lowered Age of Criminal Liability

ANNE CURTIS – A netizen slammed Anne Curtis’ post about the lowered age of criminal liability.

On January, the House of Representatives approved the bill seeking for the lowering of criminal liability in the Philippines.

Under the Republic Act No. 9344 also known as Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, it says that the minimum age of criminal liability is 15 but is now planned to lower into 9 years old.

Among them is the actress and tv host Anne Curtis who is also the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Anne Curtis took to the social media to express her stand against the bill seeking to lower the minimum age.

The actress said that those children who are causing trouble “are victims of their circumstance and are still young enough to change their ways.”

She suggested that instead of putting those children in jail, they should be placed in proper rehabilitation.

“I stand with UNICEF as they call on the government to work with the rights defenders and strengthen the juvenile justice system for the sake of all Filipino children,” said Anne.

Anne Curtis obviously knows what she’s talking about, however, a Duterte supporter contradicted the actress’ knowledge as opinion on the bill.

A Facebook netizen named Noel Landero Sarifa wrote a lengthy post about Anne’s statement.

He clarified that he understands that Anne was only doing her job but he advised her not to be a puppet.

The netizen urged Anne Curtis to be a voice to the “masa” not the UNICEF’s campaign.

Sarifa also said the actress has no right to speak or represent the Pinoy children because she’s not born and raised in the Philippines.

Sarifa’s FB post gathered lots of reactions from the netizens. Here are some of their comments on the post:

@Mel Espanol: “Stick to your acting career and improve your singing ability. Huwag mo na paki alaman ang mga batas”

@Regina Marie: “Paid to wear the shirt, what does she know. I doubt she even reads the newspaper”

@Nathaly D. Dordas: “Ipaubaya na yan sa mga naka alam Anne”
