EARTHQUAKE ALERT – A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hits Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Sur provinces on Tuesday morning, May 21.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that a magnitude 4.0 earthquake jolted the provinces Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Sur recorded on Tuesday morning.

Accordingly, the shaking in Agusan Del Norte recorded at 3:12 a.m. with its epicenter at 25 kilometers (km) southeast of Remedios Trinidad Romualdez (RTR) with a depth of 13 kilometers.

Meanwhile, it was as 5:14 a.m. when a 4.0 magnitude quake also hit the Surigao del Sure. According to the bulletin from the PHIVOLCS, the tremor was also recorded on the same day, May 21, with the epicenter at 4 km northwest of Cortes town in nearby province of Surigao del Sur and a depth of 23 kilometers.

Both shaking were tectonic and there had been no alert about aftershock being raised. Also, there no reported damages or injuries from the provinces’ Disaster Risk Reduction and Management councils (DRRMCs).

Meanwhile, the Tawi-Tawi DRRMC also reported no injuries or any damages when a 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit their province on 10:12 p.m. with its epicenter traced at 252 km southeast of South Ubian, Tawi-Tawi, with a depth of 425 kilometers. It was also tectonic and no aftershock alert was released from the agency.
