Philippines Rocked by Several Earthquakes Today (May 20)
EARTHQUAKES – Here is a list of the quakes that rocked the different parts of the Philippines today, May 20.
Every day, the Philippines is rocked by a lot of quakes. That is because the country lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire. It is prone to the shaking caused by the movement of the plates.
In fact, most of the time, after a major movement, a lot of small quakes follow a certain strong quake. These are also called as “aftershocks”.
In the Philippines, it is the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) that records the details about earthquakes happening in the different parts of the country.
Through a bulletin released everytime a quake occurs, the government agency provides information on the location of the natural incident and as well as its magnitude.
For today, May 20, Phvolcs has recorded sixteen(16) earthquakes as of this writing. These quakes rocked different areas in the Philippines.
