Robert Eusebio, the opponent of Vico Sotto, complained against election result in Pasig
Incumbent Pasig City Mayor Robert Eusebio, the opponent of the proclaimed Election 2019 Pasig City Mayor said, “Alam ng tao kung sino ang nanalo.”
The two politicians were vying for the mayoralty position in one of the prominent cities in Metro Manila.
As early as 2 AM on May 14, the camp of Sotto was already waiting for the proclamation coming from the Board of Canvassers in Pasig.
However, they waited until 9 AM but there was no proclamation that happened after they filed a petition since it was no longer possible for his opponent to reach the number of votes needed.
Sotto was questioning the reason why Comelec delayed the proclamation but he did not get an answer.
He waited a little more when the Board of Canvassers declared a recess. Eventually, later that day, he was proclaimed as the new Mayor of Pasig City but supporters of Robert Eusebio gathered in front of the city hall.
Eusebio’s supporters were demanding for a manual vote recount as they believe that an anomaly happened during the election.
In a recent interview, the incumbent mayor also has this point of view.
“Kami ay maglalatag ng protesta laban sa pangyayari dito sa Pasig. Gusto naming maging malinaw dahil alam ng tao kung sino binoto, alam ng tao rin kung sino ang nanalo,” he said.
Eusebio also accused the camp of his opponent of doing the “paawa effect” during the campaign period.
He added that they requested for permits from Comelec while the other camp did not do this.
“Ang problema lang minsan eh puro sisi ang binabato sa amin,” Robert Eusebio said in an interview.
