Zambales Hit by Earthquake with 2.2 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 2.2 magnitude quake in Zambales today, April 26, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.

This morning, a 4.3 magnitude quake has also rocked the Ilocos Region and, recently, another quake hit Zambales. At 07:42 am today, April 26, 2019, Castillejos, Zambales was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.2.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Samar was located at 14.90°North, 120.29°East – 010 km South 73° East of Castillejos, Zambales. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 035kilometers.

Based on the bulletin posted by Phivolcs on its official Twitter page, it is still an aftershock of the quake that hit Zambales on April 22, 2019.

According to Phivolcs, there are no expected damages caused by the quake and as well as aftershocks.
