One of the best Filipino food that is a favorite of many people even foreigners is pork sinigang. In English, it is pork ribs sour soup. It is a perfect viand most especially for lunch.

Sinigang is known for its sour taste which makes it a really unique dish from all the other Pinoy food. Some cook it using tamarind while others can achieve the taste even without it.

What To Prepare:

  • 2 pounds pork spareribs cut into 2-inch pieces
  • water
  • 2 large tomatoes quartered
  • 1 medium onion peeled and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 banana or finger chilies
  • 4 pieces gabi taro (peeled and halved)
  • 1 6-inch radish (labanos), peeled and sliced to 1/2-inch thick half-rounds
  • 1/2 bunch long beans sitaw, ends trimmed and cut into 3-inch lengths
  • 1 eggplant ends trimmed and sliced to 1/2-inch thick half-rounds
  • 5 to 6 pieces okra ends trimmed
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 bunch bok choy

How To Cook Pork Sinigang:

Step 1 – Place a pot on medium heat and then pork and water. Cover it to boil and take away the scum that appears on top.

Step 2 – Add onions, tomatoes, and fish sauce. Reduce the heat and then let it simmer for around one(1) to one(1) and a half hour until the pork meat is tender.

Step 3 – Add gabi and continue cooking for around six(6) to eight(8) minutes until the vegetable is softened based on the recipe.

Step 4 – Add radish and chili and let it simmer for around two(2) to three(3) minutes before you add long beans and continue cooking it for two(2) minutes more.

Step 5 – Add okra and eggplant and then continue cooking it for one(1) to two(2) minutes.

After you’re done cooking, transfer it to a bowl and enjoy a great meal with your loved ones.
