TRILLANES – Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 150 released an arrest warrant against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
Previously, the revocation of the amnesty granted to Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV sparked news reports. It was the Duterte Proclamation 572 that voided the amnesty granted to the former Navy lieutenant.
The Senator is one of the staunch critics of the alleged corruption under the term of then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. In 2011, then-President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III granted him amnesty.
Malacañang previously stressed that Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV failed to meet the requirements for amnesty. Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte also cited that the granting of the amnesty is the prerogative of the President.
For several days, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV stayed under the custody of the Senate. His fellow lawmakers have also advised him to stay there. He has also decided not to get out as long as there is no categorical response from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Two Makati Regional Trial Courts have not released arrest warrants against the Senator. His supporters have also stayed outside the Senate to make sure that they have their eyes on him.
Police authorities were also outside the Senate. Pres. Rodrigo Duterte decided to wait for the verdict of the Supreme Court over the issue. Citing the decision of the President, the AFP and the Philippine National Police had the same decision.
The Supreme Court refused to grant the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) requested by the Senator against the presidential proclamation. Recently, Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 150 released an arrest warrant against him.
Based on a report on Philstar, Sen. Trillanes was arrested yesterday and he posted a bail of Php 200,000.
Undeniably, the release of an arrest warrant against Sen. Trillanes has sparked different reactions from the people. There are those who support it while there are those who are disappointed by it.
