According to Sen. Trillanes, no evidence can be found against him. The opposition senator also expressed that he is not afraid of Pres. Duterte.

The Department of Justice and the Armed Forces of the Philippines were previously told to go on with the cases against the Senator. Meanwhile, Pres. Duterte has decided to wait for the verdict of the Supreme Court.

Based on a report on PhilStar, it was stated in Duterte Proclamation 572 that Sen. Trillanes failed to comply with the requirements for the application of the amnesty.

Recently, Malacañang revealed another reason why the President believes that the Senator’s amnesty grant is invalid. According to the Palace, being a lawyer, the Chief Executive believes that an amnesty is personally given by a president.

“It cannot be further delegated to other officials. It is a presidential prerogative so the position of the president is that only the president should have signed the order of amnesty,” Malacañang said.

Currently, Sen. Antonio Trillanes is on the pursuit of defending the validity of his amnesty grant. It was then-President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III who granted it to him in 2011.
