Another Low-Pressure Area & Typhoon Moving Closer To PH, PAGASA Says

PAGASA has spotted another low-pressure area and a typhoon is moving closer to the Philippines, which may affect the country’s weather condition.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest weather updates in the country.

PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area was spotted about 1,000 kilometers east of Guian, Eastern Samar.

Low-Pressure Area

The LPA was not expected to develop into a storm but it may bring rains over parts of Mindanao as it moves towards Visayas.

The weather agency also said that typhoon Jebi was spotted 3,030 kilometers east of northern Luzon outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

PAGASA meteorologist Gener Quitlong said that Jebi has maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

Low-Pressure Area

The state weather bureau said that Typhoon Jebi might enter the PAR if it continues to move 20 kph at a west-northwest direction.

However, the weather system was not expected to make a landfall but might enhance the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or locally known as ‘Habagat’ would cloudy skies and scattered rains over Batanes and Babuyan.

Localized thunderstorms would also affect Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
