Philippine corals are being sold at a gift shop in Long Beach, Washington for a certain amount, which allegedly considered as a violation of the law.

Coral reefs are diverse underwater ecosystems, which plays a very important role in the marine life.

This rainforests of the sea are fragile ecosystems since they are very sensitive to water temperature and under threat from climate change, cyanide fishing, blast fishing, and oceanic acidification.

Recently, a Facebook user named Romina Lim has shared how Tubipora and Heliopora corals are being sold at Washington.

The labels of the marine products say that the corals are rare and exported all the way from the Philippines.

Lim said that the corals were extracted from the Philippine reefs then sold in the United States (US) for less than P2, 000. The gift shop also sells bottled shark pups for around P800.

The concerned netizen urges the public not to support this trade since the collection and exportation of corals.
