Typhoon Gardo Brings Heavy Rains To MIMAROPA, Western Visayas

GARDO – On Monday morning, Typhoon Gardo (Maria) has entered the Philippine area of responsibility according to PAGASA.

In the recent article, it is stated that the monsoon will affect the areas of Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, and Western Visayas. Furthermore, the government advised the residents to stay alert and prepare for incoming floods and landslides.

According to a report in PhilStar, the PAGASA said that the typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 200 kph near the center and gust of up to 245 kph.

Furthermore, citing the information from the Severe Weather Bulletin, the typhoon was spotted 1,325 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes. The typhoon will bring heavy rains and monsoon to Metro Manila this Wednesday.

Based on the report, PAGASA advises residents to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides.

“Residents of these areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides resulting from heavy rains.”

Meno Mendoza, a meteorologist from PAGASA, advised the public against dabbling in floody waters, pointing out that some areas in Metro Manila declared an outbreak from leptospirosis.
