Epy Quizon Reveals Request Over Issue About ‘Dolphy King of Comedy’ Award
EPY QUIZON – Actor Epy Quizon broke his silence on the issue surrounding the ‘Dolphy King of Comedy’ award being given to Kapamilya actor-comedian Vice Ganda.
Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda was hailed as the first recipient of the Dolphy King of Comedy Award by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) on its 66th Awards Night.
Many of the fans and supporters of Vice were happy with the new award of the Kapamilya actor-comedian. However, based on a report, amid the many people’s joy over the new award for Vice, entertainment writer Gorgy Rula criticized the decision of the FAMAS to give the award to Vice.
According to Gorgy Rula, Kapuso actor Vic Sotto has more achievements compared to Vice Ganda. On his response to the criticism, the It’s Showtime host cited suggestions on how he could make the writer happy,
Previously, Dolphy’s actor-director son Eric Quizon broke his silence over the issue. As per a report, the son of the late Comedy King expressed that FAMAS reached out to him and he told them to have a process in choosing for the recipient of the award.
According to him, he told him that he would give his recommendation to whoever comes out to be deserving based on the research and survey. No list of comedians’ names was given out as the actor-director does not want it to be like a contest.
Reportedly, only the name of Vice Ganda came out on the result of the survey.
Recently, the 66th FAMAS Awards Night was held and Nanay Rosario Viceral, the mother of Vice Ganda, and Dr. Tina Viceral, the comedian’s sister, were the ones who received the Dolphy King of Comedy award for Vice based on a report in Pep.
It was Epy Quizon, the son of Dolphy, and Boy 2 Quizon, the grandson of the late Comedy King, who gave the award to the mother and sister of Vice.
Speaking to the reporters, Epy Quizon admitted that he does not know about the issue and how it started. He himself was surprised by it. Meanwhile, he stressed that, for him, Vice Ganda is deserving of the award.
“Itong taon na ito, siya yung mayroong box office hit, PHP 500 million ba? Parang ganun,” he said.
Based on the report, Epy Quizon also revealed that it was supposedly Eric Quizon who would give the award but he’s in the U.S. now for work so he called him to make sure that they go to the event and give the award to Vice Ganda.
“Sana kung may mga issue man, ipasantabi muna yung mga issues na ‘yun,” he said.
