FAMAS President Reacts to Issue About Dolphy Memorial Award

FAMAS – Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) President Francia Conrado broke her silence regarding the Dolphy Comedy King Award that is set to be given to Vice Ganda.

Kapamilya television host and comedian Vice Ganda was hailed as the recipient of the Dolphy Comedy King Award. Amid his many fans and supporters rejoicing for the new recognition for the It’s Showtime host, one writer criticized the move of FAMAS to give the award to him.

Based on a report, writer Gorgy Rula claimed that Vic Sotto has more achievements compared to Vice. The Kapamilya TV host reacted to his criticism and suggested ways that he can possibly make the writer happy like passing the award to him so he can give it to whom he wants it to have.

Meanwhile, Vice Ganda clarified that he is not mad at Gorgy Rula over his negative criticism. He expressed that someone has to step up to defend the side of the actresses and actors.

Actor-director Eric Quizon, the son of the late Comedy King Dolphy, has already spoken regarding the issue. According to him, FAMAS has reached out to him and he told them to have a process in choosing for the award’s recipient.

Recently, the President of FAMAS, Francia Conrado, has also broken her silence on the controversy surrounding the award that is set to be given to Vice Ganda.

Based on a recent report of ABS-CBN news reporter Mario Dumaual, Conrado revealed that the Unkabogable Star is the one chosen by the family of the late Comedy King to receive the award.

According to the FAMAS President, they consulted the Quizon siblings including Eric and the Kapamilya TV host is really the “unanimous choice” for the award. She also revealed that Vic Sotto is already a lifetime achievement awardee and as well as Senator Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon.

Based on the report, Kapamilya stars Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia are also nominated as best actress and best actor for their film Love You To The Stars And Back on the 66th FAMAS Awards.
