This year’s Miss Intercontinental pageant was held at Hurghada, Egypt on Wednesday, January 24 (January 25, Manila).
Mexico’s Veronica Salas Vallejo was the fateful one who was able to bag the crown and the prestigious entitlement as Miss Intercontinental 2017.
The title was passed by Miss Intercontinental 2016 Heilymar Rosario Velazquez of Puerto Rico.
However, the Philippines bet Katarina Rodriguez for the competition was placed as the 1st runner-up.
And during the Q&A portion of the pageant, the PH representative was asked of what is the most important thing that she learned in joining Miss Intercontinental.
Her answer is, “The most important thing that I have learned in joining Miss Intercontinental is an Arabic word named after one of the Sunrise Resorts and that is Meraki. It means to do all things with passion, soul, and creativity. When I heard this word and its definition, it resonated with me ’til now and I think it will for the rest of my life. Therefore, that is the most important thing I learned while participating at Miss Intercontinental. That is to do all things with soul, passion, and creativity.”
The former runner-up from Asia’s Next Top Model has also received a special award such as Miss Intercontinental Asia and Oceania.
