Heavy Rains Could Be Experience In Visayas, Mindanao Due To Typhoon Paolo

The intensified Typhoon Paolo was expected to bring heavy rains that could trigger flash floods and landslides in Visayas and Mindanao.

On Thursday (October 19, 2017), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said that Typhoon Paolo could bring rains accompanied by strong winds, and lightning in the country.

U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center said that Paolo was last spotted 895 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Sur and could possibly become a super typhoon on Friday (October 20, 2017).

The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center with gustiness of up to 145 kph as it moved north-northwest at 15 kph.

Possible moderate to heavy rains are expected to be experienced in Visayas, Mindanao, the Bicol region and the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon brought by Bagyong Paolo despite its distance.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau also announced that another low-pressure area (LPA) was located about 185 kilometers west of Puerto Princesa City.

The LPA could also bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon during afternoon and evening.
