“We Are Winning War On Drugs,” PNP Chief Bato Dela Rosa Says

PNP Chief Bato Dela Rosa Satisfied With The Results Of Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign

PNP chief director Ronald “Bato Dela Rosa” said in a news conference that the Duterte’s war against illegal drugs is already winning.

Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte has launched the anti-illegal drug campaign to eradicate the problem on illegal drugs throughout the entire Philippines. Duterte has also assigned Dela Rosa as the head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to lead the war on drugs.

Unfortunately, the crackdown on illegal drugs was linked to Extrajudicial Killing (EJK), which killed thousands of alleged drug suspects. The increasing death toll of vigilante killings has raised the concern of the human rights organization and criticized Duterte’s anti-illegal drug campaign.

Despite the criticism on the drug war, President Duterte continued to make efforts in addressing the problems in the country caused by the proliferation of illegal drugs.

Recently, PNP Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said that he was satisfied with the results of anti-illegal drug campaign. He also explained that every problem has a remedy and PNP was doing its best to address every problem nationwide.

Dela Rosa also measured the result of the war on drugs through the opinion of the public if they feel safer now.

“Go out in the streets, ask people if they feel safe. If they [say they don’t], then we’re a failure. If they [say they do], then we’re successful. I can honestly tell you: People in the streets say they do feel safer now,” said by Dela Rosa quoted by Inquirer.

The PNP chief also cited the 27 percent reduction in index crimes since 2016. He explained that reducing drug problem will also decrease the rate of criminality in the Philippines. Dela Rosa was hurt due to the involvement of some police on illegal activities.
