Barangay Chairman Isagani Benitez Challenged By Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez Into Fist Fight
The former actor and now Ormoc City mayor Richard Gomez has challenged Tongonan Barangay Chairman Isagani Benitez into a fist fight.
Previously, Mayor Richard Gomez has challenged Isagani Benitez, the chairman of Barangay Tongonan in Ormoc into a fist fight and gun battle. Gomez was allegedly wanted to dismiss Benitez from his position in the barangay.
According to some reports, the Ormoc City mayor has admitted he has a conflict with the barangay chairman after its refusal to accept the relief goods for the residents affected by the powerful tremor in Leyte.
“That’s true. Hinamon ko siya makipagbarilan at suntukan. Nag-init ulo ko. Hindi niya tinanggap ang tulong ng LGU. I will file a case at Ombudsman para tuluyan na siyang matanggal,” said by Gomez quoted by Definitely Filipino.
Early reports stated that the conflict between Gomez and Benitez have started when former Senator Bongbong Marcos has visited the city to look over the situation of the quake victims in Leyte.
Bongbong Marcos allegedly asked Benitez why they were not receiving any financial aid yet. Gomez started to heat up when Benitez answered that they seemed to be politicized prompting their barangay to receive no help from the local government.
