The head of DPWH Bacolod, Abraham Villareal, revealed the money spent on the construction of an overpass.
VILLAREAL – The head of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Bacolod City, Abraham Villareal, has broken his silence with regards to the cost of the controversial overpass.
Based on a previous news report, lots of netizens reacted negatively on the previous reported price of the overpass built in front of Antonio Jayme Elementary School in Barangay Mansilingan which is 10.9 million pesos.
Lots of people questioned the cost and stressed that the said structure does not even have a roof which makes it inaccessible during rainy season.
Based on a recent social media post on the Facebook page of Bombo Radyo Bacolod, the head of DPWH Bacolod, Abraham Villareal, expressed that the project cost did not reach 10.9 million pesos.
Villareal clarified that 10.9 million pesos is the fund allocated by the Road Board to the said overpass but the project only cost 9.8 million pesos as it was the “approved budget for the contract” or ABC.
According to the DPWH Head, the pedestrian overpass is not overpriced and its price is reasonable.
The social media post abruptly circulated on the social media. As of the writing, it reached more than one hundred twenty shares and it also never failed to hook the attention of the netizens.
Many Facebook users dropped comments to the post and, undeniably, many are still not convinced with the explanation.
Netizen Tatidang Prokay stated in a comment that no one will believe even if they would explain it.
In a comment to the post, Facebook user Daniel Gonzaga raised two questions: “Wala overprice man? Meaning mas mahal pa ni ang overpass compared sa lima ka balay sa Camella? hahaha”
[There is no overpricing? Do you mean this overpass is more expensive compared to five houses in Camella?]
Netizen Donna Villanueva Torres stated in a comment to the post that Negros really has lots of resources as it spent almost 10 million pesos for an overpass alone.
