House Member Confirms Religious Group Set To File Impeachment Complaint against VP Sara Duterte

RELIGIOUS GROUP – A House member said a group of religious people is set to file the 3rd impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is currently faced with two (2) impeachment complaints. The impeachment moves against the Vice President have gathered different reactions from the public.

The Iglesia ni Cristo or INC set a rally to oppose the impeachment moves against Duterte and show support on the stand of Pres. Bongbong Marcos on the matter. The Chief Executive previously admitted that he is against the move as it will only “tie up” the Senate and the House of Representatives.

According to Marcos, the impeachment will not favor even one Filipino. He also told the House members in a private message that “Sara is unimportant” in the big scheme.

The first impeachment complaint was endorsed by Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña. The second impeachment complaint was endorsed by the Makabayan bloc lawmakers. Previously, there were speculations of a looming third impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

Recently, a House member confirmed that a religious group is “certain” to file the third impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro said that the complaint will be filed next week.

“We just heard from one of our colleagues that a group of religious people would file next week… It’s already certain to be submitted next week,” Castro told ANC’s Headstart.

Prior to it, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco already gave a heads up that a religious group may be filing the third impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on the report, Castro said that it is the reason why they have yet to transmit the two (2) impeachment complaints to the Office of the Speaker.

According to the ACT Teachers Representative, they waited for the third impeachment complaint as there might be a technical problem if the two (2) complaints will be filed ahead. However, she is not confident that the complaints will be transmitted to the Senate soon.

Previously, amid the issue, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero has ordered the senators to refrain from giving statements regarding the impeachment complaint versus Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
