The ISIS-inspired Maute Terror Group are also using drones to monitor and flee incoming militaries chasing them in Marawi City.

The Marawi Siege started nearly a month ago when the Maute Terror Group fought back the government forces who raided the hideout of the Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilion Hapilon. The gun battle in the beleaguered city severely affects the residents.

President Rodrigo Duterte was forced to declare martial law throughout the entire Mindanao region to control the situation in the area. The sporadic firefight in Marawi City took the lives of several people including both militaries and civilians.

The militaries were making efforts and risking their lives to chase the terrorist. They were even using drones to collect details and information to find the exact location of the Maute Group in Marawi City to end the deafening gun battle.

Meanwhile, the members of ISIS-inspired Maute group were also using drones to monitor the actions of the militaries and to escape from their offensive actions. Several drones were already found by the militaries during the first week of crisis in the beleaguered city, according to Joint Task Force Marawi spokesperson Lt. Col. Jo-Ar Herrera.

“During the first two weeks ng ating [skirmishes], mayroon tayong mga nakita na gumagamit din yung kalaban ng drone. Part ito ng surveillance intelligence ng Maute group,” said by Herrera quoted by GMA.

The soldiers were already complaining regarding the disgusting smell of the decomposing cadavers, which belongs to the terrorist group. Starving stray dogs were also even eating human remains just to fill their empty stomach.

As of now, the militaries continued to conduct clearing operation in Marawi City as the members of Maute Group were suspected hiding in fortified basements. About 242 members of the terrorist group have already died on the siege as it is recorded on Sunday (June 18, 2017).
