‘Jocelyn Reyes’ Becomes Instant Billionaire Upon Checking Account In BPI

A BPI client found out that her account ballooned to billions upon checking and  became a multi-billionaire so suddenly.

BPI – ‘Jocelyn Reyes’, a client of the Bank of the Philippine Islands became an instant multi-billionaire after she checked account in Makati City.

According to the news report of the Inquirer, Jocelyn’s  money kept in the said bank grew to several digits which made her multi-billionaire instantly.

Their “instant fortune” has reached up to P12.4 billion in just a span of an overnight.

Reyes (not her real name) and her husband have lost the amount of 20,000 from personal account just laughed about it.

As being mentioned on the report, she is a bank employee and aware of what was happening so she won’t dare touch the amount.

Some were fortunate but there were those unfortunate just like Vic Sanchez, 49 years old who lost 17,000 and had just found it out when he withdrew money from his account in the bank when it then showed 2 unauthorized withdrawals.

Checking for another account, the service has been suspended.

Reyes and Sanchez were ‘some’ of the people who suffered from either instant increase or reductions on their money because of transactions that were unauthorized.

Cathy Santamaria, BPI Senior Vice President, said that “technical glitch,” or “internal data processing error” is the one she pointed out to held responsibility to such incidents.

Santamaria, however, denies that the bank has been a victim of “hacking and scam”.

She said that if hacking was involved, then cit would traceable but there was none.

Santamaria said, “I can smile … look straight into your eyes and say honestly, there’s none.”

While the bank is fixing the problem, they closed all of their electronic banking and that includes their automated teller machines, mobile and web-based platforms.

Depositors were upset and senators Grace Poe and Francis Escudero recalls those unauthorized transactions to be investigated.
