Basketball Referee ‘Hector Eguico’ Died After Punched By Player’s Father ‘Larry Tinasas’

Basketball referee Hector Eguico died after punched by Larry Tinasas, a father of a basketball player in Parara Norte, Tigbauan, Iloilo.

On May 11, 2017, the basketball referee Hector Eguice was punched by Larry Tinasas and immediately rushed to Guimbal District Hospital but referred to Iloilo Doctor’s Hospital. The referee was on comatose after his head accidentally hit on a stone.

Eguico was identified as a retired teacher and a resident of Brgy. 4 Igbaras, Iloilo. The incident started when Eguico called a found on Tinasas’ son during the basketball game, which causes Larry to react violently towards the referee, according to PSInsp Hermogenes Eulatic of Tigbauan PNP.

Tinasas suddenly punched Eguico causing his head to hit on a stone. The referee eventually died while comatose in the hospital. The suspect immediately ran to escape the crime he committed, but Tigbauan PNP was able to arrest him through hot pursuit operation.

The suspect is now regretting the crime he committed. Larry Tinasas is currently detained at TIgbauan PNP and facing a charge of serious physical injuries.
