Entire US Senate Urged To Report On White House For North Korean Briefing

All US senators were urged to report to the White House for the North Korean briefing over concern on Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile tests.

On Monday (April 24, 2017), a senior Senate aides said that over 100 senators have been asked to report to the White House on Wednesday (April 26, 2017) for a rare briefing on the current situation in North Korea, which will be held by top Trump administration officials.

The North Korean briefing will be conducted by the top officials of Trump administration including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

It is rare for all the 100 Senate members of the United States to attend this kind of event together with its top 4 officials. US officials have expressed their concern over North Korea’s threat to attack the United States and its Asian allies. They were also concerned on Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile tests.

US President Donald Trump said that the United Nations (UN) Security Council should impose new sanctions on North Korea over nuclear and missile tests. Last week, Pyongyang gets failed on their missile tests when one of their missiles explodes 4 to 5 seconds after it was launched.

Previously, the United States launch missile attacks against Syria in response to Syrian chemical weapons attack. Trump also said that it should serve already served as a warning to North Korea.

“The status quo in North Korea is also unacceptable and the council must be prepared to impose additional and stronger sanctions on North Korean nuclear and ballistic missile programs,”  said by Trump quoted by SBS.
