Resolution For Probe On Fake News From Government Officials Filed By Senator Trillanes
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV files a resolution to investigate the fake news and information allegedly came from some government officials.
The senator files a Resolution 315, which requesting Senate committee on public information and mass media to lead the investigation regarding the fake news allegedly given by some officials of the local government.
Trillanes particularly mentioned Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II and Communication Sec. Martin Andanar, which allegedly giving false statements frequently on their interviews. The senator specifically mentioned the case of Andanar saying $1, 000 were given to the senate members when SPO3 Arthur Lascañas was presented.

He also reminds Andanar’s statement that President Rodrigo Duterte is acquitted from the Davao Death Squad, which strongly denied by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
In the case of Aguirre, Trillanes discussed some false statements given by the secretary by accusing him involved in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) riot last year despite the lack of evidence. Trillanes also points out the accusation of Aguirre against Sen Jamby Madrigal on attempting to bribe NBP boys with an amount of P100 million, without evidence.
Trillanes urges the government officials should be extra careful in giving statements and information to the public to avoid fake news and propaganda in social media.
