The name of Loida Nicolas Lewis was pointed out to be behind the ouster plot against President Duterte

Loida Nicolas Lewis unzipped her lips amid the apparent issue on the alleged ouster plot against Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The Filipino- American philanthropist said in a statement, sent through a message to The Philippine Star on Tuesday, that she is not any way involved in an alleged plot to unset the President.

The name of Loida Nicolas Lewis was implicated in what appeared to be a plot to press President Duterte to step down and pave the way for Vice President Leni Robredo to take over Malacañang Palace.

“I strongly deny being involved in any plot against President Duterte”, Lewis said, saying that Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II’s allegation that Vice President Leni and Senator Leila de Lima stayed in her home when they visited the United States is not true.

Lewis, who hails from Bicol as the vice president, added that she has no contact with either De Lima or Robredo.

Lewis said admitted though that she has called on the President to resign after he himself said that he would step down if he did not solve the drug problem in six months.

Lewis is an avid supporter of Robredo since she ran for office in Congress, before she ran for the second highest post in government in the Philippines.

Robredo earlier denied involvement in any plot against Duterte after the news about “Lenileaks” broke out.

Lenileaks, the Philippine version of Wikileaks, or the leak of alleged email conversation of the staff of Vice President Leni to some of her avid supporters regarding a plot to unseat President Duterte, making her succeed the Presidency.

Robredo said the controversy has not been clear to her because she had no time to clarify it since she has been so busy visiting and aiding affected residents on areas devastated by the typhoon.

But she admitted that she has received partial and skeletal information that there is a YahooGroups to which she is linked.

According to reports, the emails were seen in a YahooGroups page, the Global Filipino Diaspora Council.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Vice President is also not bothered by the decline in her recent trust and approval ratings in the recently released poll result of Pulse Asia.

According to Atty. Georgina Hernandez, spokesperson of the vice president, the survey results because sources of inspiration of Robredo to better serve the poor people.

Robredo is focused on helping in the rehabilitation programs for the victims of Typhoons Nina and Lawin, which struck the Philippines in 2016.
