ABS-CBN cameraman Anthony Martin was arrested in a drug buy-bust.
ABS-CBN’s cameraman Anthony Martin was nabbed in a drug buy-bust which took place in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City.
Recently, a news report in ABS-CBN News stated that Martin is the network’s studio operator of camera.
According to the news report, marked money, drug paraphernalia, and suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride were recovered from Martin.
However, the cameraman asserted that he does not know the package’s content as he was only asked to deliver it by someone whom he referred to as ‘Buddy’. He said that he was borrowing money from Buddy.
“Ihahatid ko lang po, isang give, tapos alis na po [I’ll just give it and then I will leave],” the cameraman who will be taken to the Police Station 7 in Quezon City said based on the report.
The report also entailed that the network said in a statement that it has a ‘drug-free workplace policy’ and that it does not condone any of its employees’ utilization and ‘distribution of illegal drugs’.
“We will ensure that any of our employees proven to be engaging in illegal drugs will be subject to company policy. We are cooperating with the authorities on this matter,” the statement stated according to the report.
In the previous months, lots of drug suspects were arrested by the authorities in drug raids. The authorities have also discovered illegal drug laboratories in some parts of the country.
Furthermore, many illegal drug users have surrendered after Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has continuously warned them. Pres. Duterte, the tough-talking 71-year-old man from Davao City, has been very vocal about his madness towards drugs.
Based in a previous news report, despite the thick pile of papers entailing the names of drug suspects, the 71-year-old chief executive said that there is no stepping back.
Way back in the 2016 election campaign period, Pres. Duterte promised that he will end the presence of illegal drugs in the country within three to six months in case he secures the highest position in the country.
Pres. Duterte, the former mayor of Davao City which he has served for more than two decades, led the presidential race against four other bets.
The other candidates of the 2016 presidential election were former Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay, Sen. Grace Poe, former Interior Sec. Mar Roxas, and the late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
