Sen. Joel Villanueva is in a hot seat now
Senator Joel Villanueva shared this Bible verse amid being dragged into the anomalous flood control projects.
Villanueva was accused of receiving kickbacks from the said projects, along with his fellow lawmaker, Senator Jinggoy Estrada. Just recently, former Senator Bong Revilla was also dragged into the issue.
In a video statement that he released, Villanueva condemned the accusations against him. He pointed out that these were just speculations and had no evidence. The lawmaker also said that he was ready to bring this fight to the court and that he would file a case against his accusers.
The controversy involving Sen. Joel Villanueva did not stop there. Allegations surfaced that he has a “side chick,” beauty queen Angelica Corporal. Photos of them together surfaced on social media, including the luxury bags, watches, and car that Angelica owns.
Amid the issues against him, the lawmaker shared a Bible verse on his Instagram Story, and it was Deuteronomy 31:6, which stated, “Do not fear the road ahead, for God walks with you. His hand will guide you, and His grace will sustain you through every trial.”
Villanueva also shared his starter pack meme, which was called Tesdaman, that included a Bible, a cup of coffee, a basketball, a cellphone, and the logo of the Senate of the Philippines.
Sen. Joel Villanueva is the son of preacher Eddie Villanueva, the Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide. The Senator started his political career as a representative under the CIBAC (Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption) party-list. Then, he was appointed as the Director General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and served from 2010 to 2015.
In 2016, he ran for senator and he won. During the campaign period, he used the moniker “TESDA Man.”
