Duterte Responds to De Lima
Duterte Responds to De Lima – President Rodrigo Duterte recently responded to Senator Leila De Lima’s statement if the President is romantically interested in her because of the continued legal threat she receives from the latter.
In a report by GMA News, Duterte said that he loses his appetite whenever he sees that alleged ‘video’ of De Lima with her partner who is being pointed as her driver and bodyguard, Ronnie Dayan.
“Susmaryosep. Alam mo every time I view the video, I lose my appetite. Nawawala ang gana ko sa kanya,” Duterte said as quoted.
Duterte added, “Ang magkaron ng gusto sa kanya ‘yung mga, hindi man ako guwardiya, hindi man rin ako motorcycle cop. Hindi rin ako convict.”
(The one who will have interest in her are…I’m not a security guard, I’m not a motorcycle cop as well. I’m not a convict.)
De Lima said in an interview:
“Naawa na po ako sa inyo mahal na Pangulo, Tigilan na ninyo ako. Ano po ang gusto niyo sa akon? May gusto po ba kayo sa akin?”, the senator added.
(I pity you, beloved President. Please stop me. What do you want from me? Are you interested in me?)
The President is the one who accused De Lima of having romantic relationships with a bodyguard and a motorcycle security escort.
According to the President, De Lima needs to refrain from adopting an improper attitude about everything that she faces as Duterte said, they were ‘serious charges’.
“Those are serious charges. She should not adopt a nonchalant attitude about all of these things. Kasi I said she opened the portals of narco-politics to take hold in the national level. There will never be an honest election,” he said.
During a press conference, Duterte said that the situation of the country on drugs was like in the scenarios in the books The Cartel by Don Winslow and Gangster Warlords by Ioan Grillo.
“You read the cartel, it’s online you can buy it. Ioan Grillo’s another one and you would recoil in horror because it is exactly what we are experiencing today,” the President said as quoted.
